This program does not offer a fast track that starts right after your Bachelors graduation. You need a Master’s Degree in the Field of economics.

There are no tuiton fees beyond a small administrative fee for enrolment with the FU Berlin, see here (in German and English).

In order to apply, you need to present your MA certificate.

The application process is done exclusively online via the HBS application site.

You will see in the description of our doctoral program that we keep the number of mandatory classes low to and close to your PhD subject to support you in the completion of the PhD during the funding period.

At the EQUALFIN Graduate School you will receive a, three-year fellowship to complete your doctoral thesis during that time.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept external PhD students to participate in individual modules.

• I have a Master’s Degree in the Field of economics (or, in some exceptions, in political science)
• I have at least 300 ECTS (Master’s plus Bachelor’s degree in Economics)
• I am proficient in German language, with a minimum level of B2 at the beginning of the funding period

You are required to have very good English writing and speaking skills. For being eligible for HBS funding, you need to have a document certifying that your German language skills meet the B2 level at the beginning of the fellowship. So we only encourage you to apply if you already have good German language knowledge at the moment of the application.

The decision on your main supervisor will be taken together with the admission. You will then discuss the selection of the second and third supervisor with your first supervisor. Typically, they will be professors from the professors participating in the PhD program you can see on the website.

You will receive a PhD certificate after successful completion.
